Our Purpose

Glorious Light exists to sow the seed of God's Word and share the gospel of God's Son.  The gospel message - that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (see I Cor 15:1-4) - is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Rom 1:16).  However, the gospel is hid from the lost, for Satan has blinded their minds; and it remains hidden, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ … should shine unto them (II Cor 4:3-4).  Shining the light of the gospel into our darkening world is the mission of Glorious Light.   Our gospel booklets are free of charge to all who would join us in freely sharing them with others.

Two Bible passages influenced the formation of this ministry.

In the Old Testament book of Ezekiel, prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC, God said to His prophet, Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house (Ezekiel 12:2).  Bent on rebelling against their Maker, the people of Israel could neither see nor hear the truth of God’s Word spoken by Ezekiel, warning of the coming judgment.  Nevertheless, God had His prophet communicate the message again, this time in a new way, declaring, it may be they will consider (12:3).  Although the hearts of the people were set on rebellion, the heart of God longed for their redemption.

In the New Testament Gospel of John, the woman Jesus met at the well was likewise living in rebellion against God.  This dear soul had been married to five different men and was presently living with a man she was not married to.  Yet, Jesus suggests that it was not her immorality that kept her from being saved from her sin, but her ignorance.  He said to her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water (John 4:10).

Time has not changed us; the rebellious nature of humankind persists.  And so does God's love for the wayward.  God at times still has His servants try unusual means to gain the attention of the lost, even if the possibility of success be no more than “it may be they will consider.” And while immorality of whatever sort is no hindrance to the power of Christ to save, ignorance still is.  If people do not know about the gift of God and who it is that offers it, they cannot ask for it – and He cannot give it to them.

The convergence of these scriptural truths upon the heart of this redeemed sinner played an important role in bringing Glorious Light into existence.  Knowing the Word of God will not return void (Isaiah 55:11), we send it forth, praying and believing that the purpose for which God sends it forth will be realized.
