Sorrow According to God
This is a sermon by Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910). He was pastor of Union Chapel in Manchester, England for 45 years. From his ministry there, he became known as 'the prince of expository preachers.'
In his sermon, "Sorrow According to God," Maclaren gives a clear and timely message concerning the matter of repentance. His text is Second Corinthians 7:10: "Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation, not to be repented of; but the sorrow of the world worketh death." Maclaren says, "What is the connection between repentance and salvation? Two sentences will answer the question. You cannot get salvation without repentance. You do not get salvation by repentance."
